WE ARE TRAYVON MARTIN

March 24, 2012, Tampa, Fl - Family, friends, and strangers gathered at the corner of one of the busiest intersections in the city to show support 17 year old, Trayvon Martin. News of the young man's murder went prime time after it was revealed that the alleged perpetrator of the crime has yet to be detained.

The intersection of Dale Mabry Highway and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd was an appropriate setting for the peaceful rally and despite the racial tension provoked by the evidence presented case, black and white gathered together demanding justice.
Today, we marched and held up signs. We chanted "We are - Trayvon Martin" with passion in our voices. Drivers also blew their horns in support of the slain teen and for 3 hours we spoke up and represented a voice that had been silenced. We spoke for Trayvon Martin. We asked, "what if it were you?" "What if it were your child?" "What if you had the chance to right a wrong?"

I"m sorrowful for the circumstances surrounding the rally, yet optimistic about the impact it will have on the outcome of the case. I, and I assume the entire group walked away with hope knowing that in time justice will prevail.

"We are Trayvon Martin." "We are Trayvon Martin." "We are Trayvon Martin"
